From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the team access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Planners groups.
Fans can anticipate discovering which characters will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
